Committees

 

We acknowledge, with grateful thanks, the many hours these individuals donate to the Association. Their companies have made a commitment to industrial safety and health that is recognized and appreciated. Through their efforts, and the efforts of all members, the safety record in our industry is continuing to improve.

Committee Chairs are encouraged to review these responsibilities periodically and re-write them, as necessary.

Members are encouraged to provide feedback to the committees either by contacting the chairs directly. Contact PPSA to join a committee.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee responsibilities include Financial Committee and reviewing PPSA’s accounts and annual budgets.

Conference Committee
The Conference and Sponsorship Committee is responsible for planning the annual professional development conference and managing the sponsorship for the conference.

Membership and Vendor Committee
The Membership and Vendor Committee is responsible for developing, tracking, and increasing both company and vendor PPSA membership.

Educational Development
The Education Committee is focused on advancing health and safety across the paper and packaging industry through relevant, accessible, and practical education. The committee collaborates with safety leaders from member companies to identify emerging issues, industry trends, and critical topics that can benefit the PPSA community. Through monthly webinars featuring experienced industry professionals and subject-matter experts, the committee provides members with opportunities to learn, share best practices, and bring new ideas back to their organizations.

Awards and Nominations
The Awards and Nominating Committee is responsible for executing the awards throughout the entire year. It
includes but is not limited to, the Executive Eagle, Distinguished Service, and Safety Committee/Team awards. This committee will also be responsible for recruiting and vetting new Board Members.

Communications Committee
The Communications Committee ensures the organization's public visibility across multiple formats by maintaining an active social media presence and updating the website with relevant news and events. Its responsibilities also include issuing press releases, publishing a quarterly electronic newsletter, and developing handout materials for trade shows. Additionally, the committee meets at least twelve times a year to review its charter and provide monthly reports to the Board of Directors.

Converting/Packaging Committee
This committee is responsible for promoting active participation, facilitating knowledge-sharing, and ensuring the annual conference breakout sessions address current trends, challenges, and best practices in the converting/packaging operations sector.

Scholarship Committee
This committee is responsible for The Pulp & Paper Safety Association (PPSA) Future Leaders Scholarship Program is designed to: Support college students pursuing careers related to workplace safety, health, risk management, environmental stewardship, manufacturing, and related disciplines, introduce future professionals to the pulp, paper, packaging, and converting industries, build relationships between students and PPSA member companies, develop the next generation of safety leaders for the Pulp and Paper industry, and increase awareness of career opportunities within the paper and packaging sector.
