The responsibilities of each committee are outlined below. 

Committee Chairs are encouraged to review these responsibilities periodically and re-write them, as necessary.  

Members are encouraged to provide feedback to the committees either by contacting the chairs directly (see the Board of Directors page for email addresses) or via the FeedBack page.

Program Committee:  The Program Committee shall be responsible for planning and coordinating the annual Safety and Health Conference, as well as for securing presenters and for the financial budgeting of this conference. It is also responsible for planning and coordinating all other program activities for this conference; such as but not limited to the spouses program, chairperson's reception, and awards banquet.

Membership Committee:  The Membership Committee shall be responsible for soliciting new Association memberships, provide the Association members with an updated membership list on an annual basis and to solicit, an an annual basis, the needs of the membership and to act on these needs.  

By-Law Committee:  This committee shall be responsible for reviewing the Association's By-Laws on an annual basis, to rewrite these by-laws as needed to meet the current direction and needs of the Association and to submit these revisions to the membership for approval.

Awards Committee:  This committee shall be responsible for selecting the award winners for all Associations awards and shall be responsible for contacting each of these winners for verification of their records and for attendance at the annual Awards Banquet.  This committee should meet once a year in the month of February for the determination of these winners.

Educational Resources Committee:  This committee provides pertinent education on critical safety and health topics for clearly defined audiences, in a cost effective manner. 

Standards Committee:  This committee shall establish records keeping and reporting guidelines and educate membership on the Association's guidelines.  That shall also gather and disseminate information on OSHA trends, activities and citations in our industry, comment on proposed OSHA standards, provide interpretation resource and model programs on OSHA regulations, educate the membership on the new OSHA regulations, and establish a Safety Certification for our industry.

Communication Committee:  The Communication Committee has formulated the following goals:

  • Document the annual meeting and Board meetings throughout the year.  

  • Furnish photographs and information to various trade organizations regarding the activities of the Association.   

  • Activate an electronic bulletin board for use in communication safety items of interest to the membership, such as safety alerts, OSHA updates and job postings.

  • Publication of annual meeting, regional seminars, and other activities of the Association.

  • Coordinate collection of news items and articles for publication in the quarterly and annual reports.

  • Coordinate notification of meeting notices in trade magazines (calendar of events). 

Vendor Committee:  This committee will be a liaison between the Association and the vendor members.  They shall meet with the vendors at a meeting during the annual conference.

Nominating Committee:  The Nominating Committee shall nominate the officers and Board of Directors for the coming year and all vacancies that occur in these positions.  They shall contact the nominee and their immediate supervisor for their approval and support, in writing, for the term of office.
