Material Transfer Zone Safety Webinar
The loading dock is no longer just a loading dock. Instead it has evolved into a free-flowing Material Transfer Zone (MTZ) that begins with the drive approach and extends well into the staging of any paper-making operation. A well-designed MTZ can greatly improve an organization’s efficiency and productivity.
However, the increased speed with which goods travel through the MTZ makes it an inherently dangerous environment where the risk of accidents is high. An unfortunate misstep within an MTZ can cost a company as much as $1 million or more in direct and indirect costs, and as a result, safety is paramount for employers.
The Material Transfer Zone Safety Seminar is designed to raise awareness of loading dock evolution and key safety hazards. Topics covered at the seminar include such issues as trailer separation, air-ride suspension problems, the increasing potential for loading dock fires and door safety. This educational discussion is intended for those directly involved with facility safety and others directly responsible for activities in and around the MTZ.
Offering insight into the latest trends and important issues that impact MTZ and the supply chain is Dan Quarles, vice president – sales for Rite-Hite Corporation, a world leader in the manufacture and sale of loading dock and industrial door products.
Dan specializes in meeting the unique needs of the paper, print and packaging industries and has more than 15 years experience in the material handling industry. Well versed on the safety challenges companies face in the MTZ, Dan is a frequent guest speaker of interested companies and a host of material handling organizations.
